Every project is planned around the location, conditions, and agreed scope.

Planning your flight

Flight Requirements & Conditions

Every proposed flight is subject to safe conditions, airspace requirements, and the rules that apply at the location.

Weather & airspace

  • Safe weather conditions
  • FAA airspace requirements
  • Required FAA authorization, including through LAANC where applicable
  • Current NOTAMs (aviation notices)
  • Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs)

Permissions & location

  • Property-owner permission where applicable
  • Town and beach regulations where applicable
  • Conservation-area restrictions where applicable
  • Park and other local launch/landing restrictions
  • National Park Service restrictions where applicable

National Park Service locations

The National Park Service generally prohibits launching, landing, or operating a drone from NPS-administered lands and waters, subject to limited exceptions. These property-based restrictions are separate from FAA-controlled airspace; they do not automatically prohibit all airspace over NPS property. Both applicable airspace rules and site-specific operating restrictions must be checked.

Read the National Park Service guidance

Allow room for conditions to change.

Unsuitable weather, airspace or regulatory restrictions, or authorization issues may require a scheduled flight to be postponed or rescheduled.

Have a location in mind?

Airspace / Location Check

The FAA’s B4UFLY resource provides a useful preliminary airspace check. It is not a guarantee that a commercial flight can legally or safely be conducted.

Check Your Location for Drone Restrictions

Before conducting a commercial flight, Shadowside Studio will verify current FAA airspace restrictions, authorization requirements, NOTAMs/TFRs, and applicable launch/landing restrictions.

Care in delivery

Client imagery is reviewed before delivery. Where appropriate, unintentionally captured identifiable people, license plates, or other unnecessary identifying details may be cropped, obscured, blurred, or removed.
